Claremont Strategic Tourism Plan

The Town of Claremont is working with DTM Tourism to deliver a Claremont Strategic Tourism Plan (CSTP) for the next five years. The CSTP will include development action plans and tourism marketing strategies to identify sustainable opportunities and enable our visitor economy to thrive. The plan will reflect the views of our community, embrace current and forecast conditions, provide flexibility and will deliver the greatest potential to create benefits for our community and visitors.

Project objectives

The projects aims to:

  • Strengthen and sustain ToC's tourism industry to boost economic and cultural development in our area,
  • Understand tourism gaps and opportunities through a comprehensive gap analysis,
  • Engage all relevant ToC stakeholders to position ToC as a tourism destination of worth,
  • Enable development of 'experience connectors' that improve the current visitor experience and achieve dispersal across ToC area, and
  • Deliver strategic and measurable actions to enable ToC to emerge as a compelling and thriving tourism destination, benefiting both visitors and the local community alike

Project updates

A Project Control Group (PCG) has been established to manage the process of this project and will meet monthly over the duration of the project, between September 2026 - May 2027.

How information is being collected and used

ToC have appointed project partners DTM Tourism to work with our community to develop this plan. An industry and community engagement strategy has been established to ensure the views of local communities are reflected in the CSTP.

Engagement process

  • During October 2026, key tourism stakeholders will be invited to participate in consultation and site visits from the consultation team.
  • In November 2026, key tourism stakeholders will be invited to participate in a tourism planning workshop to provide input to the development of new opportunities.
  • All ToC stakeholders and interested community members will be invited to participate in an online survey during November 2026 to provide input to tourism priorities.

How and when decisions will be taken

The draft CSTP will be submitted to the ToC in mid-February 2027 and will be open for public exhibition during March 2027. The final plan is expected to be delivered by early May 2027.
