Made in the 70s

The 1970s were a pivotal decade in Australia defined by colour and chaos. Fashion was eclectic, as was home decor!

Colour television were now in homes and the Sony Walkman had arrived by the end of the decade.

Here in Claremont, the growing population saw the need for further facilities, shops and housing.

Many will have fond memories of time spent in Claremont during this groovy decade.

The community is invited to celebrate and reflect on this decade with the special exhibition 'Made in the 70's' on display from 3 October 2024- 13 April 2025.

Ten Stories

Look at the tale behind 10 interesting items chosen from the museum's extensive collection. From Ruth Tarvydas gowns to a statue from the old Sunflower Chinese restaurant that must stay in Claremont, these unique stories are not to be missed. You also have the opportunity to share your own favourite Claremont story and add to the rich history of the Town.
