Eight finalists will perform for the chance to join the Perth Symphony Orchestra on stage at the Town's Carols in the Park.
Search for a Star is the Town of Claremont's new singing competition for young western suburbs performers.
Eight finalists will perform at a Day on the Bay on Sunday 18 October before Perth Symphony Orchestra Creative Director Fiona Campbell for a chance to join the orchestra on stage at the Town's Carols in the Park on 5 December.
The finalists are:
- Isla Holmes
- Jasmine Goonewardene
- Zetta Hutchins
- Neha Vijaya Bandara
- Scarlett Whyte
- Anna O'Sullivan
- Gabriella Biddle
- Ethan Samuel Koekemoer
In its first year, the competition attracted 43 online audition videos from young western suburbs performers, each singing a verse and chorus of a song of their choice.
Entrants were required to live in or attend school in the western suburbs, be aged 12 to 24, and perform solo.
"Congratulations to our eight finalists and all 43 young performers who entered our first Search for a Star competition," Mayor Peter Telford said.
"It takes courage to put yourself forward, and it's wonderful to see so many young people sharing their talent with our community.
"The chance to perform alongside Perth Symphony Orchestra at Carols in the Park is an exciting opportunity. I encourage everyone to come along to A Day on the Bay, cheer on our finalists and enjoy their performances," he added.
