Residents and visitors are invited to discover Claremont's vibrant public art collection at the next free Claremont Meanders guided walk on Thursday 23 July.
Hosted by Claremont Museum volunteers every second month, the popular guided walks explore a different theme each time.
The upcoming walk will depart from FORM Gallery at 9:30am and showcase some of the Town's more than 55 public artworks, while sharing the stories behind them.
Town of Claremont Mayor Peter Telford encouraged the community to take advantage of the free guided experience.
"I recently joined the Poppy Trail walk and was reminded just how many remarkable stories are woven into the streets and places we see every day. It was a wonderful experience that brought Claremont's history to life," Mayor Telford said.
"The Claremont Meanders walks are a fantastic way to discover our Town through the knowledge and passion of our Claremont Museum volunteers. Whether you're a long-time resident or visiting for the first time, you're bound to see Claremont in a new light.
"If you can't make the guided walk, our self-guided trails are available year-round and offer something for everyone, from local history and public art to Aboriginal heritage and our beautiful natural environment."
The Town also offers a range of self-guided walking trails, each showcasing a different aspect of Claremont's history and identity:
- Cobblers and Convicts - explores one of Claremont's oldest residential areas, the former Convict Depot site and Freshwater Bay.
- Rediscovering the Terrace - traces the evolution of Claremont's historic Town Centre.
- Trail of Memories - highlights the key milestones in Claremont's development.
- Yargine Track - journeys around Lake Claremont and Swanbourne, sharing Noongar heritage, the history of Swanbourne Village and Anzac Cottage.
Maps for all self-guided walking trails are available on the Town's website.
