Discovering the western suburbs next star

The Town of Claremont is looking for young western suburbs performers for the chance to join the Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) on stage at Carols in the Park 2026. 

The competition is open to solo vocalists aged between 12-24 years old, no groups or bands are permitted to enter. 

Entrants must live or go to school in one of the following local government boundaries: Town of Claremont, Town of Cambridge, Town of Cottesloe, Town of Mosman Park, City of Nedlands, Shire of Peppermint Grove and City of Subiaco. 

To enter, participants must record a video of themselves singing one verse and one chorus of their song of choice and fill out an online form. 

Shortlisted entrants will be invited to perform at a live audition at A Day on the Bay on Sunday 18 October with the winner performing at Carols in the Park on Sunday 5 December. 

Mayor Peter Telford said, "This is a unique experience for a young person to take to the stage with Perth Symphony Orchestra at our much-loved Carols in the Park event." 

"This is a great way for a budding singer to showcase their skills and captivate an audience with their talents." 

Entries open 9am Friday 7 August 2026 and close 5pm Friday 18 September 2026.
