The Town would like to acknowledge the passing of local resident and environmentalist Pam Free.

An avid bird lover for more than 40 years, Pam voluntarily dedicated her time to counting the birds for the Lake Claremont bird census from spring 2012 to autumn 2025.

An illustrator and painter, Pam's works are used across signage around the lake, educating the public about the many bird species at Lake Claremont.

Her love for birds began whilst she was living in Singapore, and this cemented into a life-long passion that began after birdwatching, a calming focus in a busy life.

Pam's beautiful drawings of birds were used in the artwork for the Town's Celebrate Lake Claremont event in 2024 and 2025, as well as in brochures highlighting the birds of Freshwater Bay, Lake Claremont and the Town's parks and reserves.

This year, Pam and her husband David adopted a marri tree under the Town's Adopt-a-Tree program, providing some food for the endangered black cockatoo.

Our thoughts are with David and their family during this time of mourning.
