In the lead up to summer, work is set to begin on Tuesday, 16 September to refurbish both the male and female changerooms at the Claremont Aquatic Centre.
The changerooms will be upgraded one at a time so pool users will still have access to one while the refurbishments are underway.
Work will begin in the male changerooms and during this time, males can use the accessible toilets which will continue to be open throughout the whole process.
Once the renovation of the male changeroom is completed and everything is fully functional, work will begin in the female changerooms with females to use the newly renovated male changerooms and males to continue using the accessible toilets.
Overall work includes the removal of existing fittings, fixtures and partitions, plumbing works, electrical works, wall and floor finishes, fixture and fitting installation, and painting.
The day-to-day operations of the Aquatic Centre won't be greatly impacted, and visitors are encouraged to continue visiting and swimming.
Mayor Jock Barker said the changerooms upgrade is part of our overall asset improvement plans, ensuring that our community facilities are well maintained and at a quality standard.
"This project is part of our annual capital works budget, and while this may cause some inconvenience, I know the refurbishment will be well received," Mayor Barker said.
Hours of operation for the refurbishment is 7am - 7pm, Monday - Friday.
Works are expected to be completed in early December, just in time for the busy summer period.
