Expressions of Interest are now open for the Town of Claremont’s Youth Mural Mentorship open to residents aged between 16 – 25 years old encouraged to apply.
The lucky mentee will be paired with an experienced mural artist to learn the process and help create a new public art mural on the front façade of the Claremont Aquatic Centre.
Mayor Peter Telford said that creativity plays an important role in the development of young people, and this mentorship program is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience.
“The Aquatic Centre has hundreds of visitors a day, making this location a key focal point for a mural,” he added.
Last year, the rear wall at the Bay View Community Centre was painted by mentees Jack and Daisy together with mentor and WA artist and animator Peter Ryan.
The mural, titled Busy Bees, shows community members controlling the strings (like puppets) of bees which are building a garden.
Submissions for the 2026 program close Thursday 11 December 2025 at 4pm, with the project planned to start on or before March 2026.
