An Afternoon at Lake Claremont is an opportunity to enjoy an autumn afternoon at Lake Claremont. 

This free community event will feature eco activities and live entertainment, including a performance of Djinda Kaatijin (to understand stars), which is a collection of short Dreaming stories from various countries around the world by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company. 

An Afternoon at Lake Claremont is part of the WA Tree Festival program. 

The 2026 WA Tree Festival is sponsored by the Government of Western Australia, with the support of WALGA and Perth NRM. 

Bring a picnic or enjoy the food trucks from 3:30pm.

Stage program 

  • 3:30pm - Welcome address and Welcome to Country with Denice Kickett 
  • 3:45pm - Live Music with Charlie Youngson 
  • 4:30pm - Djinda Kaatijin (ton understand stars) performance by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company 
  • 5:20pm - Q&A with Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company performers

Getting to the event 

Live locally or environmental conscience - please consider walking, riding or sharing a ride to the event. 

The closest train station is Claremont, approximately 12 minutes away from the event site. 

Free event parking

1. Parking along the verge of Elliot Road is 2 hours only

2. Lake Claremont Reserve - entry access at the end of Elliot Road (Parking Officers will be present to provide support) 

3. Claremont Train Station off Davies Road has 235 undercover bays

Additional parking bays around Lapsley Road and Davies Road - please read signage to confirm parking times. 

Parking on the road is not permitted at any time and cars will be fined.

Toilets 

No additional toilets will be hired for this event. 

Please utilise the toilet block at Tee Box Cafe located at the rear of Tee Box Cafe, closest to the carpark. 

Seating 

This is a picnic-style event. 

You are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and low chairs so you can sit closer to the stage.
