Your library is on the move....
The recently refurbished community building overlooking the beautiful Claremont Park will soon become home to the Town's library services.
The Bay View Community Centre will include a coffee shop, a space for community hire, plenty of free parking and in the future, a community garden.
The relocation of the Claremont Community Hub & Library will take place over the coming weeks with an opening date planned for October.

The schedule of the move is currently as follows:

The new location for the Claremont Community Hub & Library is at the Bay View Community Centre, 64 Bay View Terrace.
The former library facility on Stirling Highway was originally a temporary measure following the Fire that destroyed the building on Claremont Park. While the space on Stirling Highway has been suitable, future developments poised for the Town Centre may create access and other issues for library patrons and staff.
The newly redevelopment community centre has provided Council the opportunity to relocate these services back to the Park location it once enjoyed, and will provide other benefits such as
- connection to other amenities (café, future community garden)
- increased parking
- a greater variety of classes
- larger classes sizes
- a true community hub
Once the community garden is established, the BVCC will be a wide-ranging intergenerational space.
Council will use this opportunity to explore options for additional community facilities to support the growing community’s needs. This may lead to the development of a purpose-built library and or other such facilities in the future.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept returns during the closure, please return prior or keep safe until the reopening.
No, there will be no late fees applied to books during this time in order to accommodate the new opening.

Information on the reopening will also be made available on the Town's website and social media channels.
The JP service at the Claremont Community Hub & Library will be unavailable at this time, however it will resume upon the reopening of the new centre.

The Bay View Community Centre (BVCC) is a different shape and size to the former library on Stirling Highway. The former location was 162sqm whilst the BVCC is 252sqm. You can find a comparison of the venue sizes in the table below.
The new facility features an increased space available for community hire, from 40sqm at the Stirling Hwy location to 86 sqm at the BVCC. This will allow class sizes to be increased for which there is an existing demand.
There is also ample free parking provided at the BVCC
