The undergrounding of power to the final pocket of the Town of Claremont was supported by more than 80% of survey respondents and, as such, the project will commence within the 2017-18 financial year.
Over the coming months, the Town will work with Western Power to develop a scope of works for the project, which is likely to then proceed early in 2018.
As previously communicated, the Town of Claremont will fund two thirds of the cost of this project, with the remaining third being contributed by property owners in the area.
This will equate to a total of $3500 per property, which is a similar cost to property owners as it was when the Town undertook a similar project in the south ward more than 20 years ago.
