The Town of Claremont's Freshwater Bay Museum and Aegis Care will present a fascinating look at the hidden history of the Claremont Mental Hospital (1903-1984).

Museum staff will provide an overview of the history of the hospital and its buildings. Ian Loftus, historian and author of “The most fearless and gallant soldier I have ever see”, will provide an overview of Victoria Cross recipient Private Martin O’Meara, a resident of Claremont Mental Hospital in his final days. Dwane George, from Aegis Aged Care, will also share the story of the incredible renovation of the remaining CMH buildings.

This is a unique opportunity to come inside the beautifully restored Montgomery Hall, once the administration building of the Claremont Mental Hospital (1903-1984). Hear the tales of "The Forgotten Ones" who lived within the hospital's walls.
