To celebrate the inaugural Scribbler’s Festival, Off the Page will invite artists to transform recycled paper materials, pre-loved and discarded books into visual art installations for an exhibition that will be 'off the page' in the Claremont Town Centre.

This will be an installation-based exhibition where words are literally transformed into art. Hosted by selected businesses throughout the Claremont Town Centre, the project features sculptural works by local and international artists.

Installations will be at the following businesses;

  • Dilettante
  • Jac + Jack
  • The Lane Bookshop
  • Monde
  • Elle et Lui Designers Shoes
  • Claremont Quarter
  • Mama Tran
  • Cult Status
  • Claremont Community Hub & Library
  • Town of Claremont
  • Empire

Call for book donations

International artists are seeking book donations for their bespoke artworks for the Off the Page exhibition.

Los Angeles artist Mike Stilkey
uses the spines of books to create a canvas on which he skilfully and meticulously paints whimsical characters. His piece that will be hosted by Empire Homewares will require 400 hard cover books (15cm cover width), without a paper dust cover, to create a solid life-size canvas.

Germany's Lacy Barry and Cris Wiegandt are also looking for paper and books for their bespoke artwork which will fill the void in Claremont Quarter.

Book donations will be gratefully received and can be dropped to guest services, level one Claremont Quarter by Thursday 26 April.
