History in a Coffee Cup - A New Map for the Universe

Local author Annabel Smith will talk about the writing of A New Map of the Universe, set in England during the second world war and also in Melbourne during the 1950s; and Whisky Charlie Foxtrot, which draws on her memories of her childhood in England. She’ll discuss writing from memory, research and experiential research. She’ll also be giving us a sneak peek into her current work in progress which explores memory loss and personal history, and how our stories make us who we are. 
 
Annabel Smith is the author of interactive digital novel/app The Ark, US bestseller Whisky Charlie Foxtrot, & A New Map of the Universe, which was shortlisted for the WA Premier’s Book Awards. She is an Australia Council Creative Australia Fellow, holds a PhD in Writing & teaches for Australian Writers Centre.
