What is Claremont YAC?

Claremont Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of young people who live, study, play and/or work in Claremont and who are interested in youth issues. The YAC advise Council and State Government on a wide range of youth issues, initiatives and put on youth events to promote a positive voice for youth.

To give you an idea of the projects Claremont YAC gets involved in here is a list of some of the projects YAC has been part of:

  • The promotion of young people's involvement in government
  • Ampfest - Clash of the Bands
  • Ignite Dance Party
  • Skate and BMX Competitions
  • Urban Art
  • Jazz in the Park
  • National Youth Week Activities
  • The Sensory Garden
  • Claremont Christmas Carnival

Who can join Claremont YAC?

Anyone aged between 12 and 25 who lives, studies, plays and/or works in Claremont. Parental permission is required for everyone under 18.

When does Claremont YAC meet?

YAC meets twice a month on a Monday evening between 5.30 and 7pm at the Town of Claremont Administration building, Bay View Terrace. Interested members are encouraged to come along to a meeting to try it out. Food and refreshments are provided at our meetings!

YAC is always looking for new members. If you would like more information on joining YAC please contact the Youth Officer at the Town of Claremont on 9285 4300 or yac@claremont.wa.gov.au.
