Agett Park Upgrade
The
Town of Claremont is proposing to upgrade Agett Park, which is the small green space
located on the corner of Agett
Road and Bay Road. This project is one of many
the Town has identified as being worthy of inclusion in its “Infrastructure
Renewal Programme 2006 – 2010”.
The Infrastructure Renewal Programme is a commitment to the future by the
Town which sets out a five years plus plan to progressively implement a
range of practical and achievable projects aimed at repairing and upgrading
streets, parks and community facilities throughout the municipality over
the coming years, mainly under the following three categories:
• upgrading parks and reserves;
• improving pedestrian links to activity centres and railway stations and;
• improving streetscapes, road surfaces, drainage and the management of
traffic.
It is proposed to upgrade Agett Park over the coming months by:
• providing some seating,
• a drinking post with a self closing tap and dog bowl,
• a rubbish bin and upgrading the lighting;
• constructing a new pathway through the park to link existing footpaths on
Melvista Avenue and Goldsworthy Road;
• rationalising and upgrading tree plantings;
• repairing and levelling the grassed areas;
• providing new timber bollards along the park/road edge and;
• realigning and modifying the Agett Road/Goldsworthy Road intersection to
discourage speeding vehicles and improve safety for pedestrians crossing
Goldsworthy Road.
A project board with a coloured plan showing the proposed improvements will
soon be erected in the park.
Your response to the Council’s proposal is welcomed. If you wish to make
any comments on any aspect of the plan, please write to the CEO, Town of
Claremont, PO Box 54, Claremont, WA, 6910 (for the attention of Grayden
Provis, Manager Assets), or email toc@claremont.wa.gov.au by 25 January
2008. If you have any queries you may telephone Mr Provis on 9285.4300.
