Waste

The Town of Claremont provides a variety of waste management services at regular times during the year.  Please refer to the Waste Services Calendar for all waste and recycling information.

GENERAL WASTE COLLECTION DAYS

Each residential property is provided with a standard 120 litre mobile garbage bin for the disposal of general household waste. For safety and environmental reasons, some materials must not be placed in these bins. These include hot ashes, toxic or flammable materials, bricks, rubble, sand, cement or any building products. Bin collections are conducted weekly and commence from 7.00am. Please ensure that your bin is placed in position before 7.00am on the day of collection. Bins placed out after this time cannot be emptied. If you wish to know when your collection day is click here.

BIN COLLECTION

Your bin should be placed:

  • Between 0.5m - 1.0m from the kerbside, (clear from any obstructions such as power poles or signs) prior to 7.00am on the collection day.
  • Place your bin with the wheels facing your house.
  • Ensure that the lid is completely closed.

REMEMBER to take your bin back on to your property as soon as possible after it has been emptied. Bins left in the street look untidy and if constantly left out overnight on non-collection days, may be followed up by the Environmental Health Officer.

TIPS to get the best from your bin and the collection service:

  • Store your bin in a shaded area
  • Clean your bin regularly using hot soapy water
  • Wrap all moist and perishable foods in newspaper and/or plastic bags
  • Freeze highly odorous foods, such as seafood, until the night before collection
  • Report any bin damage or theft to Council's rubbish contractor - telephone (08) 9285 4369

A stolen bin requires a police incident report number

Note: Hot ashes, oil, paint, solvents, bricks, soil and concrete cannot be placed in your rubbish bin.
For further information contact the Environmental Health branch on (08) 9285 4300.
