The Claremont Pool is situated in a beautiful setting, adjacent to the trees and tranquillity of the Lake Claremont Golf Course. It is often described as being like a country pool in the city. Our family-oriented pool is open all year and caters for the Claremont community, the western suburbs and beyond, such is its popularity. Our facilities include an Olympic sized swimming pool, a diving pool with three springboards, along with a 25m pool, toddler’s pool and playground equipment under shade sails.

Claremont Pool is a safe environment for young adults and has an enviable reputation for being a friendly, customer oriented and relaxed facility. Make sure you visit the Pool’s Alfresco Café for a cappuccino or hot chocolate!

    Heated, Naturally!

The pools were heated from the second week in December 2003, via a geothermal heating system. Water from the Yaragadee aquifer is drawn 864 metres to the surface and circulated through a heat exchanger to transfer the heat from the artesian water to the pool water. The artesian water at 43oC will heat the pool water to 28oC. The two sources of water remain separated throughout the heat transfer process, with the pool water returning to the pool and the artesian water returning to the Yaragadee aquifer, chemically unchanged and just a few degrees cooler. This heating method is the most environmentally friendly way of heating, saving 330 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year, compared to the next most environmentally-friendly method. Consequently Claremont Pool now operates year-round.

    Easier Access

Car parking capacity has increased, with the Pool and Golf Course car park now linked by a pedestrian access ramp. It is therefore easier for the Golf Course car park to accommodate overflow parking from the main Pool car park. Improvements to the car parking assist parents with prams and people with mobility difficulties visiting Claremont Pool. Other improvements to assist pool access include an aquatic wheel chair, dedicated disabled / family change rooms, a hoist for the 50m pool (self activated by the user) and walk in steps with handrails to the 50m and 25m pools.

    Sponsors

We again express our appreciation for financial assistance for the heating project from the State Government’s Department of Sport and Recreation, and also from our neighbouring councils of Subiaco, Nedlands, Cottesloe and Peppermint Grove, and look forward to continuing to provide a year-round and more comfortable facility for all western suburbs' ratepayers and residents.
