On 16 October 2001 Council adopted its new
Occupational Safety and Health Management Plan
, which is designed with the vision of achieving best practice in Occupational Safety and Health.
This will be achieved by building a safety culture dedicated to preventing injuries and ill health to employees,
contractors and the general public, ensuring all can operate in a safe and healthy environment, whether at work or in their own time.
The Plan lists strategies to achieve the following outcomes and prioritises them in order of importance:
- Policy Commitment and Management
- Planning Occupational Safety and Health
- Consultation
- Hazard Management
- Training and Supervision
- Safe Systems of Work
- Rehabilitation and Injury Management
