Lake Claremont Policy

Lake Claremont was recognised by the System Six Study, which recommended that the Claremont Town Council, in consultation with the Department of Conservation and Environment, prepare a management plan for the area.  Important management considerations noted include: only allowing recreation activities which are compatible with the conservation of flora and fauna; improving the lake's value as summer refuge for water birds; and the area's potential for water.

The Town of Claremont is committed to managing Lake Claremont as a healthy natural seasonal wetland to provide both a natural conservation and recreational resource for the community in perpetuity.
