Bulk Verge Pick Up

The Town of Claremont provides a variety of waste management services at regular times during the year.  Please refer to the Verge Collection Calendar 2009 for all waste and recycling information.

VERGE BULK RUBBISH/GREEN WASTE– COLLECTIONS

Council provides six verge bulk rubbish collections each year.  General waste only is collected twice a year and green waste four times a year.

Notices are distributed to residents one week prior to each collection advising them of the collection date for their locality.

Waste should be sorted and placed on your verge as follows:

Green waste - (four times per year) - garden waste - all tree and shrub pruning's are collected from the verge by Councils contractor and taken to the Brockway Transfer Station for shredding.  This is then value added and made into soil conditioner and other products.  Pruning's should be no more than 1.5m in length with the cut ends nearest the kerb to allow the contractor ease of loading into the truck; (bundle and tie thorny pruning's e.g. bougainvillea, roses etc).
"Greenwaste only" bags are available from the Council Office for $5.00 each. These bags can be used for leaves and small pruning's and placed out for the greenwaste collections. The contractor will return the bags to the property after emptying.

General waste - (twice per year) - old furniture, general junk, old televisions and whitegoods - refrigerators, stoves and other metals (remove refrigerator/freezer doors for safety reasons).

We will not collect:

Asbestos (Brockway Transfer Station will accept non-commercial quantities of asbestos - maximum 3 sheets @ $7.00 per sheet - these must be wrapped in plastic, sealed and placed in the area provided at the Brockway Transfer Station

Building rubble (Can be taken to the Brockway Transfer Station)

Tyres (Can be taken to the Brockway Transfer Station) @ $5.00 per tyre.
