BULK VERGE PICK UP

Council provides six verge bulk rubbish collections each year.  General waste only is collected twice a year and green waste four times a year.

Notices are distributed to residents one week prior to each collection advising them of the collection date for their locality.

 WASTE & RECYCLING

Your Recycling Bin will be collected each fortnight on the same day as your normal rubbish collection service.

Council provides a 240 litre yellow top recycling bin for the collection of recyclables. Your recycling bin will be collected fortnightly on the same day as your normal rubbish collection day. For information on items that can be recycled click here.
Please do not place any materials in the recycling bin other than those specified on the sticker located under the lid.

The recycling contractor will empty your yellow top recycling bin from the kerbside each fortnight on the same day as your normal rubbish collection day. Residents may request an extra recycling bin and this will be provided free of charge.

HEALTH

Council's Environmental Health Officers are pro-active in environmental health issues. Professionally trained to promote and advise on preventative and educational measures, the officers aim to enhance the quality of health and well-being of the residents within the community.

LAKE CLAREMONT

Lake Claremont is a complex wetlands ecosystem with considerable conservation value and is a prominent landscape feature within the Town’s boundaries.  It harbours abundant life, both above and below the water

FORESHORE

Freshwater Bay is one of the most spectacular areas of the Swan River, with its open water, beaches, steep vegetated slopes and cliffs.  The area has significant conservation, landscape and particular heritage values, but is also subject to heavy pressure for residential, institutional and recreational use.

Public access around the foreshore is limited by the location of various developments, private properties and steep terrain.  The natural values are being degraded by the loss of natural vegetation, weed invasion, littering and erosion.

Many State and Local Government authorities play a role in the management of the foreshores of Freshwater Bay, primarily the Town of Claremont and the Swan River Trust.  A ‘Freshwater Bay Management Plan’ was drafted by the Swan River Trust and represents a cooperative effort between these two organisations to protect the natural environment of the Freshwater Bay area, provide for appropriate levels of public access to foreshore areas and conserve, enhance and promote the heritage values of the area.

A copy of the Plan is available for perusal at the Town of Claremont Library, in the Corporate Library Section.

TREES

The Town of Claremont is enhanced by a diverse range of well-developed tree stocks, of both native and exotic species. The information provided on this page seeks to inform readers of most aspects involved in the planting, care, maintenance and selection process of trees for the Town.

Many of the trees within the Town of Claremont are over 100 years old and residents are proud of these historic features and are keen on preservation. In recognising this, the Town has instituted an annual maintenance programme and guidelines/policies for these heritage listed trees to ensure their preservation.

PARKS & GARDENS

Claremont is a leafy suburb with attractive parks and gardens, which provide a relaxed atmosphere for residents and visitors.
